It’s over! Advanced Computing User Day was a great success! With more than 200 visitors and more than 30 sessions to attend, it was a great day. A day that brought together Advanced Computing users from research, education and industry.
Advanced Computing User Day opened with an inspiring keynote by Henne Holstege on the 100+ Study in which she and her team are researching healthy people 100+ years old and what it means for Alzheimer’s. In doing so, she explained the role HPC plays in this. Peter Michielse gave an update on all activities within SURF in the field of Advanced Computing. After the update, one could choose from one of several parallel sessions. After the morning program, it was time to replenish energy supplies with a full vegetarian/plant-based lunch.
The second part of the day started with parallel sessions divided into five tracks and then visitors gathered again in the plenary hall. Here we concluded with a panel discussion and closing keynote by Justin Hallsal for entertainment. After drinks and many conversations later, the last visitor left the premises satisfied around 5:45 p.m.
